Action Alerts for Week of March 24
URGENT ACTION required by Monday 3/24, 12:30 pm - Support Parent's Rights to uphold current law and health notifications; To-Do list for other bills throughout the week
What looked to be a fairly simple week of supporting Parent’s Rights by opposing SB 5181 (Removing Parent’s Rights) now has two other bills in Monday’s Education Committee public hearing that needs your testimony. And there are other bills we’ve been tracking that might get voted out of committee. Please set aside some time tonight or early in Monday morning to act on these recommendations.
House Education Committee Public Hearing To-Do List
Monday March 24, 1:30 PM; Deadline 12:30 PM, so register now!
ESSB 5181 - Amending the parents rights initiative to bring it into alignment with existing law; aka, hiding health info from parents. ICWA is Con.
2SSB 5179 - Snitch Line for School Boards if they disagree with woke OSPI curriculum; includes withholding funds. ICWA is Con
SB 5637 - Increased civics and media literacy education - ICWA is Pro.
Our rationale on these recommendations is provided below, including some shocking info that is effectively being hidden from Seattle parents now.
Committee Exec Session To-Do List - send comments asap to committee members
Please also act on the following bills in executive session; suggest amendments:
March 25, HB 1531 Preventing Counties from deviating from “The Science” Senate Health Cmte, 10:30 am.
March 26, HB 5632 Confidentiality for abortion and sex change tourists. House Civil Rights Cmte, 8 am
March 27, HB 1296 Ends Parental Notification for Health services offered or provided. Senate Early Learning - K-12 Cmte, 10:30 am
Yes, this seems exhausting, all these bills we’re tracking. But the legislators still need to know your thoughts (keep it civil somehow).
HB 5181: Taking away portions of I-2081 Parent’s Bill of Rights which is current law
Both SB 5181 and HB 2196 are continuing to move through Olympia. After some softening amendments, both bills still take away key rights established by I-2081 for parents to be notified when health services are offered or provided to their school kids.
The Dems continue to favor kids rights at the expense of parental notification, under the guise of the mature minor doctrine/rule which is largely based on the bizarre court precedent Smith v. Seibly (1967). (More on that case later; we think it’s misused).
And ICWA has just been made aware of how far the comprehensive sex ed bills of the past have been taken with the Seattle school survey - Check Yourself - asks 6th graders to contemplate their gender, the gender(s) they’re attracted to, and about their suicide ideation.

Parents are only told of this survey and not the sensitive questions (which are now on the site, to their small credit). Or that the survey is highly modified from the original intent of the federal substance abuse program SBIRT. Or that this survey is used as a mental health assessment by unqualified interventionists. Or that the district sells the data to companies like Panorama Education. Or that 50% of assessments are recommended for followup intervention sessions. Or that this data can be used to reverse-identify their vulnerable children.
What else will they continue to roll out and hide from parents if this part of the Parent’s Bill of Rights is reversed?
Do not delay in signing in against this continued abuse of our kids by avoiding telling parents what’s going on. All option links provided here.
I would like my position noted for the legislative record - Register Con
2SSB 5179 is a Snitch Line for School Boards if they disagree with woke OSPI curriculum, and would penalize and withhold funds.
SB 5179 comes with the long, revised title of “Establishing a complaint process to address willful noncompliance with certain state education laws.
They added the word “willful” since the original bill, so you can see how the contentiousness is building.
There are school curriculum laws in the state that are largely offensive to the majority of families in many school districts. School district or school-level ability to dissent is limited and this would further enforce state curriculum pushed by the abusive democrat majority wanting all children to go along with their social initiatives (comprehensive sex ed, DEI, etc.)
Borrowing from one of our followers expert in the matter - Washington Parent’s Network:
Holding 20% of school funding is contrary to article IX section 1 of the Washington State constitution which states:
“It is the paramount duty of the state to make ample provision for the education of all children”. That means not just the children in school districts that agree with the legislature.
Article IX section 2 of the state constitution states in part:
“The legislature shall provide for a general and uniform system of public schools”.
“Shall provide” means that funding is mandatory and uniform means that schools be adequately and nearly equally funded to avoid disparity between rich districts and poorer ones.
You can also mention how any school that chooses to abide by current Federal Title IX law (Biden’s final rule was repealed) that it wouldn’t be in violation of law - it’s the state who’s not following federal law.
Can you say abolish the OSPI? And WASDA?
Well, for now you can Register Con.
Support SB 5673 School Civics Curriculum and Media Literacy
We support this bill because a) its prime sponsor is Sen. Phil Fortunato, who has championed many of our causes and b) we trust his intuition on this.
The Conservative Ladies of Washington are opposed to this bill, as are some ICWA members, given the current policies of OSPI. And the Democrat-run Washington State Government who would undoubtedly declare misinformation for anything coming out of the Trump administration. And given that the non-profit to develop the ‘media literacy’ curriculum could very well be a biased NGO funded by old USAID dollars.
However, the editors of this Alert are ever-hopeful that some kind of media literacy for future generations will not be as biased (e.g., fact-checkers during COVID and the last election cycles) and that healthy skepticism of the new can be taught. The bill would outsource the topic to a non-profit, but NGOs are getting so exposed for their bias and are being shut down. So, there’s hope.
Now, on to Executive Sessions where we can still contact committee members.
Please Oppose HB 1531 (again) - Preserving the ability of public officials to address communicable diseases
On Tuesday March 25, HB 1531 Preventing Counties from deviating from “The Science” Senate Health Cmte, 10:30 am.
Despite our great showing against 1531 again (we registered 4 Cons for every 1 pro) and the fact that they keep waffling on the actual reasons behind this bill, they are moving it. Due to the fuzzy language in the bill, and the fuzzy rationale they use to defend it, we are convinced that the bill is Speaker Jinkins pet project that is being rammed through - even though it’s basis is weak.
If you didn’t watch the committee hearing, check out how it turned into a measles fear campaign and the huge bright spot that was the testimony of numerous Young Republicans. Be inspired, especially how they answered questions from the Democrats and Paul Harris. Watch the replay starting at 1:22:45.
We should still signal our opposition to committee Democrats:
annette.cleveland@leg.wa.gov
tina.orwall@leg.wa.gov
marcus.riccelli@leg.wa.gov
june.robinson@leg.wa.gov
vandana.slatter@leg.wa.gov
And support to committee Republicans; Pray for Paul Harris to cease his uncomfortable love affair with public health. He literally walked up to sponsor Bronoske pre-hearing and loudly bragged about how he’s going to support 1531. Take note District 17 voters:
ron.muzzall@leg.wa.gov - Chair
leonard.christian@leg.wa.gov
jeff.holy@leg.wa.gov
paul.harris@leg.wa.gov - parttime republican
Did you know Washington has become a tourist destination for youth sex change and abortion procedures without proper informed consent?
Washington state has positioned itself to become a medical tourism destination. The Olympia democrats have laws in place to welcome youth from other states who want abortions and sex transition services (Protected Health Services; gender-affirming care). It was discovered that other state’s laws might be able to reach across state borders and expose identifying data of those seeking these controversial services.
So, they need to close this loophole and ‘protect’ the medical tourists.
On March 26, HB 5632 about the confidentiality of patient data when they seek abortion and sex change tourists will be heard by the House Civil Rights Cmte at 8 am.
You should still signal your opposition to committee Democrats, and support to committee Republicans.
Continue to Oppose HB 1296 Safe & Supportive Public Education System (aka Undoing the Parent’s Bill of Rights initiative I-2081)
On March 27, the Senate Committee on Early Learning & K-12 Education will hear HB 1296 at 10:30 AM
Great job. We registered heavily CON on this bill during public hearing, 8 to 1.
Now we can signal our opposition to committee Democrats,
