Public Comments Reveal DOH Misinformation
A glance at the table where the Washington Board of Health (BOH) members sat at the start of their October 9th meeting reflected the resurgence of COVID-19 hysteria: five of the nine members wore a mask. What’s more, during the Chelan-Douglas Health District update given from another location, Dr. James Wallace, serving as the interim health officer, sat masked alongside his more daring (or more highly vaccinated) colleague Luke Davis as they updated the board. Admittedly, we are mask-shaming, but can’t we return a little?
This month’s BOH meeting was held in Wenatchee, where four public comments on zoom from Western Washington residents revealed the Washington Department of Health’s (DOH) issues with their own false information.
ICWA volunteer Melissa Leady revealed to the board the DOH’s recent report on Washington Excess Deaths during the COVID-19 Pandemic and 2021 Heat Dome.
ICWA President Bernadette Pajer recently said of the report, “This absurd document seems likely a response to all our public comments and our newsletters.”
Melissa mentioned the 31 percent rise in deaths in Washington 0-54 in 2021 that was not due to COVID-19. “These excess deaths are of major concern, but I find it curious that you are not looking into this,” she said. “It is my hope that you look into this in a logical way in which you are not skewing or cherry-picking the data.”
Be Brave Washington leader Natalie Chavez announced to the board that a Washington State appeals court ruled last week that Dr. Richard Eggleston, facing disciplinary action from the Washington Medical Commission (WMC) for questioning official COVID-19 narratives, can proceed with his appeal against the commission. The ruling also keeps in place an injunction against the WMC, preventing it from proceeding with disciplinary proceedings.
Last Friday, The Defender’s Michael Nevradakis was the most timely to report on the Eggleston case update. So your humble author commented:
I am telling the board of this case because it shows the COVID insanity that continues here in Washington. Freedom of Information requests show that what he wrote was true. It shows the information lockdown that we have been facing.
I updated the board that the CDC has reported 222 deaths here in Washington following the COVID-19 shots. Oddly, the figure I gave the board two months ago was 223 deaths, so for some reason, the CDC removed one of the deaths from their site.
Nevertheless, that’s a lot deaths here in our state. And for those of you who don’t see this as a problem, I would suggest that you try telling that to the family and loved ones of those who died.
I reminded the board of the following erroneous points about the COVID-19 shots in the Vaccinating Youth section on the DOH web site that I pointed out to them two months ago, and have yet been corrected:
Add to the number of people in the community who are protected from getting COVID-19 — making it harder for the disease to spread
Reduce disruptions to in-person learning and activities by helping curb community transmission of COVID-19
I had told the board that the DOH could not make such claims when there was no evidence the COVID shots prevented transmission, that FDA briefing documents that showed that the data from Pfizer and Moderna shots preventing transmission was limited, and that Janine Small of Pfizer had told the European Parliament that they had never tested the shots for preventing transmission.
Dr. Bill Osmunson, a longtime dentist with a master’s degree in public health, criticized the board for being unwilling to read the research on fluoridation in our drinking water supply and in turn harming pre-natal infants through their fluoride in drinking water recommendations. “The board is causing harm by their words,” he said. “If you board members are unable to protect the brains of the vulnerable, then ethically you must resign.”
Dr. Osmunson’s 2021 opinion piece on his opposition of fluoridation in the Washington water systems was printed in the Spokesman-Review. He is also deeply involved in the Fluoride Action Network (FAN), and frequently comments to our under-educated WA Board of Health.
The board’s most publicized agenda item was their vote on approving screening for GAMT Deficiency and ARG1-D in newborns. On September 8, the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) voted unanimously to recommend this screening to the board.
The presenters at the board meeting acknowledged that these two cases are extremely rare. The following two slides given at the presentation reflect this.
The presenters told the board that the screening for both disorders were similar. Here’s the background on GAMT:
And the background on ARG1-D:
After minimal discussion, the board voted unanimously to join Utah and New York as the only states that offer this screening.
We will point out that this brings the number of newborn screening tests up to at least thirty-one. Yes, per RCW 70.83.020 your baby will be screened for a multitude of sicknesses unless you play by their rules.
All babies born in Washington must be screened - not just babies born in hospitals (parents may still refuse based on religious beliefs)
The initial screen (or signed refusal) must be collected no later than 48 hours following birth
The initial screen (or signed refusal) must be delivered to the State Laboratory within 72 hours of collection (excluding Sundays and Thanksgiving day).
This looks like an open-ended law, so expect more newborn screenings, realistic or not, to be added to the test schedule, which is defined in Chapter 246-650 WAC. and controlled by the DOH/BOH. Please note that Informed Choice Washington is not opposed to risk-free testing for diagnosable conditions, but also note that we are skeptical and look at the slate of tests as a great ‘customer acquisition tool,’ where the majority of unmedicated kids will grow out of most conditions.
Safeway Pharmacy Dishes Out Its Own Brand of False Information
Two issues ago, ICWA Weekly News ran a story on a Washington Department of Health newsletter making the following unsubstantiated claim about the effectiveness of mixing COVID-19 shots with other shots:
There don’t seem to be any forthcoming test studies on co-administering these new vaccines.
Not to be outdone, on October 2, Safeway Pharmacy sent out a newsletter encouraging Washington residents to do the same thing:
Besides the incentive of ten percent off groceries with any vaccine, the promo also had a “Learn More >” link that leads to a page with COVID-19 FAQs, including “Are there side effects to the COVID-19 vaccine?” Safeway’s answer is:
Here's what to know about side effects, according to the CDC:
Side effects after getting a COVID-19 vaccine can vary from person to person.
Some people experience a little discomfort and can continue to go about their day. Others have side effects that affect their ability to do daily activities.
Side effects generally go away in a few days.
For the age group of 6 mos.–3 yrs, common side effects can include:
Pain on the leg or arm where the shot was given
Swollen lymph nodes
Irritability or crying
Sleepiness
Loss of appetite
For the age group of 4–17 years, side effects are more common after additional doses, and can include:
Pain, swelling, and redness on the arm where the shot was given
Tiredness
Headache
Muscle or joint pain
Chills
Swollen lymph nodes
For adults 18 years and older. common side effects include:
On the arm where you got the shot: Pain, Redness, Swelling
Throughout the rest of your body: Tiredness, Headache, Muscle pain, Chills, Fever, Nausea
Conspicuously missing from the lists are any of what the CDC has deemed to be serious adverse reactions. In the actual list of the serious reactions acknowledged for the shots, a few stand out: death, mycarditis, pulmonary embolism, ischemic stroke.
Death
The latest VAERS data from the CDC show that of the 36,324 who have died in the United States and its territories after taking the COVID-19 shot, 222 of those deaths have occurred in Washington.
Myocarditis
Myocarditis is inflammation and damage to the heart muscle.VAERS lists 135 such cases here in Washington. Two of those cases have resulted in death.
Search Results from the VAERS Database (medalerts.org)
Pulmonary Embolism
This is a condition in which one of the pulmonary arteries in the lungs gets blocked by a blood clot. In Washington, 115 such cases have been reported to VAERS. Six of those cases have resulted in death.
Search Results from the VAERS Database (medalerts.org)
Ischemic Stroke
VAERS reports seventeen cases of this stroke following the COVID-19 shots, one of which resulted in the death of a 35-year-old male.

In cases like these, where misinformation (or our fave: Missing Information) is apparently promoted by public health agencies to other vaccine outlets, the public quickly loses trust in the message. This is another example of why Informed Choice Washington supports Senate Bill 5596 and its companion bi-partisan House Bill 1610, both titled “Restoring Trust in Public Health Through Consumer Protection,” which will help to separate government policy and employees from medical product endorsements to increase accuracy of messaging and reduce conflicts of interest.
King County Republican Party Votes for Medical Freedom
Another county party is passing health freedom resolutions. The King County GOP unanimously passed a resolution to oppose reinstatement of mandates regarding citizen’s health.
WHEREAS, there are discussions among political entities about reinstating mask mandates and at least one educational institution has already done so; and
WHEREAS, the people of King County and Washington State have a Constitutional right to make their own healthcare decisions; and
WHEREAS, the mask, vaccine, and social restriction mandates in 2021 and 2022 have had devastating, far-reaching and long-lasting impact on virtually every aspect of our lives and livelihood, including the health and wellbeing of children; now
THEREFORE, be it resolved, that KCGOP opposes any attempt by our Federal, State, and/or Local governments to reinstate mandates regarding citizens' personal health decisions, including those pertaining to masking, vaccinating, and social restrictions.
The King County GOP’s resolution now joins the trending Clark County Republican Central Committee resolution. The Clark County Today wrote that the resolution “affirms its support of individual informed consent when it comes to medical decisions, including medical procedures and products, and withholds funds from sitting lawmakers or candidates who do not hold those values.”
“This isn’t a case of forgive and forget,” ICWA Vice President Runnells told Clark County Today. “We should never forget the government overreach that occurred during the pandemic. People shouldn’t have been coerced into taking the shots and people certainly shouldn’t have lost their jobs and businesses.”
October ‘23 Events in the Pacific Northwest
On Thursday, October 12, the Seattle Truth Network is hosting a “Connect in Person” meeting on from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Razzi’s Pizzeria in Greenwood. Dinner and conversation will start at 6:00. The meeting will start at 7:00. The address is 8523 Greenwood Ave. North in Seattle.
And on Saturday, October 21, Informed Choice Washington is a sponsor of The Great Northwest Awakening, presented by Patriots United Washington, whose mission includes protecting medical freedom and elimination of vaccine mandates. Speakers, like Bryan Ardis, Stella Emanuel, and Robert Scott Bell, will provide insight and actionable solutions to protect parental rights, health, election integrity, and ideas to work with legislators. Door prizes now include a chance to take home one of 200 MyPillows.
Seems like things are movin and a shaking.
Great work and God bless you
Thank you so much, Gerald, for another wonderful article!
Regarding newborn screening, this may be an eye-opener many readers like it was for us: Washington requires the screening unless the parent asserts a religious exemption. WA retains the sample until the child is 21, but a parent can ask that it be destroyed before that. The state may use the samples in criminal investigations, and, if the sample is “de-identified,” it can be used for research! https://doh.wa.gov/you-and-your-family/infants-and-children/newborn-screening
Valerie Noble, President/Cofounder of California Health Coalition Advocacy recently gave a presentation on National Newborn Screening Laws and Policies: https://rumble.com/v3ay4k8-national-newborn-screening-laws-and-policies.html
Almost all states require newborns to have a blood sample taken by heel prick for genetic disease screening, but many parents are not informed about the ability to opt out of the testing or what happens to the residual blood samples once the testing is complete. The presentation includes an overview of opt-out, residual sample retention, and research policies of states.
Here is a link to a spreadsheet with the information Valerie collected during her research, including links to each state's laws and policies: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eUqhAXnpL3zIXNSazCTBh8tqi30ilV5PMjPM9wdmrh8/edit?usp=sharing
